HOW DO I FIND OUT MY RING SIZE?

There are a couple different ways to determine your ring size at home. First, choose the finger you will wear the ring on. Take a piece of string or cut a strip of paper. Wrap it around your finger so it's snug but not overly tight. Mark the spot where it overlaps and then measure it. Use the chart below to determine your size.

If you have a ring that fits well on the same finger, you can measure the diameter or bring it to a local jewelry store to get the size.

If none of the above work, contact us and we'll be happy to send a paper sizer to you.

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO TAKE CARE OF MY JEWELRY?

Examine your jewelry regularly to ensure your setting is secure and to identify any problems early on. For general cleaning, use mild soap and warm water with a soft bristle tooth brush. Avoid wearing your fine jewelry during strenuous tasks or where it is more likely to get bumped and scratched such as working out, cleaning, or gardening. Always use a soft microfiber cloth to dry your jewelry to prevent scratching the metal or stones.

Many colored stones are softer and more fragile to scratches and cracks, so take extra care when wearing these. Try to prevent multiple rings from rubbing against each other on your fingers. Avoid exposure to high heat. Apply your lotions prior to putting your jewelry on to prevent it getting on the jewelry.

For pearls, wash your hands prior to touching the pearls and avoid any contact with lotions or fragrances. Clean pearls after they're worn and always store them in their box.

Store your jewelry in its box or a jewelry case with felt lining whenever possible.

Timeworn prongs are especially vulnerable and may become loose when snagged or hit against a surface. Loose prongs may result in loose gemstones or may cause the loss of a gemstone.

Professional inspections are recommended every six months and immediately after your jewelry is damaged, hit, or scratched unusually to ensure that all gemstones are secure and the structure is intact.

We strongly recommend that all fine jewelry be covered by a comprehensive insurance policy to protect against theft, loss, and potential damage that can occur through daily wear. Jewelry can be added to many homeowner or rental insurance policies or insured through a standalone policy through companies like Lavalier or Jewelers Mutual.

Why is there such a big price difference between lab and natural diamonds?

Natural diamonds are, well, naturally formed. So the bigger the natural diamond you want, the rarer it is to find nearly flawless and colorless which makes the cost much higher. There is also much more risk for the miners and higher costs to source in a ethical way that ensure safer conditions for all involved including Mother Earth.

What makes a diamond ethically sourced? Mining practices, fair wages and humanitarian efforts are the prominent reasons. The mining practices are considered safer with worker safety being at the top of management's concerns. Hospitals, social infrastructure and education work hand in hand with economic stability to better the lives of the people in the mining regions.

Lab diamonds are made in controlled conditions that simulate the natural environment. Because of the control, they're able to make larger, more perfect and flawless diamonds much easier than the natural world. Since it is an easier process to replicate high quality gems this way,  the cost can be much lower. There is less overall expense and risk involved in the lab environment vs. mining as well.
